Kelly Clarkson Welcomes Baby Girl River Rose
No more waiting for Kelly Clarkson and hubby Brandon Blackstock! The American Idol alum gave birth to a baby girl on June 12th! Her name? River Rose Blackstock. Kelly sent out an adorable tweet on Saturday to announce her daughter’s arrival.
“Our baby girl River Rose Blackstock arrived on June 12th!,” the pop star tweeted. “Thank you everyone for all of your well wishes! Brandon and I are on cloud 9!! :)” The 32 year old singer has always wanted babies “right off the bat”, is sure to be over the moon in love with her new baby girl already.
River Rose will join Brandon’s children from his previous marriage, 12-year-old daughter Savannah, and 8-year-old son Seth, at the couple’s home. Blackstock, who is a music manager and Reba McEntire’s stepson, and Clarkson wed in a small intimate Tennessee ceremony in October 2013.
Kelly has always had that “mama gene”, and she admits that she got lucky right off the bat, becoming a stepmom to Brandon’s two kids. “I really lucked out with the whole kids situation,” Kelly said of her stepkids in a radio interview with Valentine in the Morning. “They’re amazing.”
The singer has always referred to Brandon’s kids as her own as well. “I want two kids. Two more, that is,” Clarkson said in an interview with Elvis Duran and the Morning Show back in October. “I’ve already got two!” Now that Kelly is a mom of three, we’re sure she feels like she has hit the jackpot.
It was no secret that Clarkson and Blackstock were trying to get pregnant. Kelly has always been very vocal about her desire to have children of her own. “More than anything, next I want a baby. Lots of them!” she told Us Weekly right after her wedding.
“My record label is freaking out because all I can talk about now are babies. We’re really excited and want to get our family started.I’m 31 and we’d like to do it the natural way. My eggs aren’t getting any younger!” she added. “So we’re really excited.” We could not be happier that Kelly finally got her wish.
Even better, she called it when she said she was expecting a baby girl. She suffered from terrible morning sickness throughout her entire pregnancy, and joked that she knew all the drama had to be caused by a girl. Guess what? She was right. “We just found out we’re having a girl officially! I knew it!” she tweeted on Jan. 20. “Only a girl could cause this much drama with all this vomiting ha!”
