How much does it Cost to get Pregnant with Twins?
For the most part, becoming pregnant with twins will cost the same amount of money as becoming pregnant with a single baby. However, there are costs related to the health of the children and mother as well as in regards to the delivery process. For example, twins are considered to be a high risk pregnancy, which may mean that you have a greater chance of needing to have a C-section.
In addition to C-sections, twins have a greater chance at being born prematurely, which can put the babies at risk due to developmental issues. For this reason, doctors will need to monitor the babies’ development and the mother’s progression a little more closely.
When delivering your babies, you can also expect to pay quite a bit more for the delivery than you would for a single child. Studies show that delivering twins costs about 5 times more than single children due to additional doctor’s visits, tests and the increase chance that a C-section will occur.
So, while twins will definitely cost more in the long run, becoming pregnant with them will cost the same even if you are using fertility treatments. Since there is no way to guarantee that twins will be conceived, it is only by chance that a fertility treatment will create twins rather than a single baby.
