If you are having true labor contractions, there are very few things that you can do to relieve the pain. In fact, contractions will continue to grow stronger and closer together as the time nears for delivery to take place. However, there are some things that you can do to help ease the pain that you are feeling.

One of the best ways is to massage the area that is causing the most pain. Usually, this means massaging the lower back area to help ease the tension in those muscles. A warm bath is also helpful for this same purpose.

For this reason, rest is likely to be the most comfortable thing that you can do. Make sure that you are taking deep breaths during each contraction. This will help you to concentrate on something other than the pain. This is one of the most popular ways to relieve the pain of a contraction.

For women who are having contractions early in their pregnancy, try drinking a glass of water and resting for a while. Sometimes this will help stop contractions so that the woman can continue with her pregnancy.
