Kate Gosselin and Eight Kids to Return to TLC for One-Night Special
What’s Jon gonna say about this? Kate Gosselin and her eight kids are returning to reality tv, but only for one night. TLC will air a one hour “Kate Plus Eight” special for one night only this summer.
The press release notably left out the name of the kid’s dad, Jon Gosselin, who recently appeared on VH1’s “Couple’s Therapy ” and badmouthed his ex wife the entire time. At one point he called her a “narcissist” and went on to say that she could “Go and F—ing Die!” Yikes. There is most definitely still some bad blood between those two.
It’s been a long time since viewers have gotten a chance to catch up with the Gosselin kids- twins Cara and Mady, now 13, and sextuplets, Alexis, Hannah, Aaden, Collin, Leah, and Joel, age 9. Jon and Kate went through a VERY bitter public divorce back in 2009, and the show continued on for a couple years afterward. “Jon and Kate Plus Eight” turned into “Kate Plus Eight” and the show was finally canceled in 2011 after 150 episodes.
Rumor has it that Kate has been longing to get back in the limelight for a long time, practically begging TLC to take her and the kids back. Earlier this year, she showed up on The Today Show with Cara and Mady for a very awkward interview with Savannah Guthrie, where the girls were completely silent the entire time.
It was a little bit disturbing, especially since the point of the interview and an earlier “People Magazine” photo shoot was to show that the twins were just “normal” teenagers, despite growing up in reality TV.
The network announced “It’s now been over two years since we’ve last seen the Gosselin clan, and Kate and the kids are catching up with TLC for an hour-long special, slated to air in June.“Throughout the special, Kate, and the kids get us up to speed on what’s changed in the family – how the kids have grown, what their interests are now, and what the latest is on Kate’s life and career,” the network shared.”
The hour will take a look back at some of the most memorable and poignant family moments from the past several years, and will highlight what the day-to-day routine has been for Kate and the kids since we last saw them.” No mention of Jon was made at all, leading us to believe that he will not be a part of the special, which is fitting. He previously vowed to “never let his kids appear on TV again”, so it’s interesting that the TV special is happening.
Kate has been trying to get her name back in the spotlight lately, appearing on the current season of Celebrity Apprentice, and her last cookbook completely bombed with readers, after it was revealed that she “borrowed” a few of the “original” recipes included in the book.
It will definitely be interesting to see the “update” special, not only to catch up with the adorable kiddos (who, let’s admit, most of us have watched since they were babies!) but also to see what’s up with Kate, and what sort of stuff she will have up her sleeve.
